The
buildings and grounds of Appalachian State University
are provided to assist it in accomplishing its mission
as a public institution of higher education in North
Carolina . The accomplishment of the educational mission
of the University shall be considered to have first
priority in all decisions concerning the use of any
University area, and the use of any facility shall
not be authorized when such use may disturb the conduct
of University activities.
In addition, these regulations and procedures
are designed to maximize the public safety and to protect public resources. The
use of all University facilities must comply with existing law and applicable
University policies (e.g., fire codes, alcohol policies, etc.) and any such law
or policy adopted in the future. Reasonable restrictions on time, place and manner
of a particular activity may be enforced to protect health, safety and welfare
of University students, faculty, staff and others; protect public property against
damage or destruction; protect individuals' rights of privacy; ensure that proposed
activities are compatible with the mission of the University and performance
of its contractual obligations; and promote other legitimate University interests
(e.g., academic achievement of students).
The principal goals in operating Farthing
Auditorium are:
- To provide maximum opportunities
for high quality cultural experiences to students, faculty,
staff and other members of the Appalachian State University
community.
- To provide an
academic assembly hall serving campus activities such
as orientation, graduation, etc.
