1. The user shall provide identification and/or complete lists of all persons to be allowed in the backstage area. This list must be provided by load-in time and approved by the Technical Director. Farthing Auditorium reserves the right to restrict backstage access. All cast and crew are to use the stage door.

2. The house opens 30 minutes prior to the scheduled show time. All set-up and sound checks must be completed by this time. The Technical Director will assist the user in opening the house on time. The house will not be opened except by permission of the Technical Director in consultation with the House Manager.

3. There will be no eating or drinking in the house except at the production table. Smoking is not allowed in the house at any time. Smoking, food and beverages are permitted on stage at the discretion of the Technical Director. Eating, drinking or smoking is not allowed in the control booth at any time.

4. Under no circumstances will the performance begin or the intermission end without the express verbal permission of the house manager.

5. Farthing Auditorium maintains an electronic alarm system for the facility. No additional locks will be permitted on any door of the premises. It is recommended that valuables be collected by the user's stage manager prior to the show and kept until the performance is completed. Appalachian State University shall not be responsible for valuables left in dressing rooms, or any other areas of the facility.

Stage and Rigging

1. Any use or change of rigging and equipment must be approved in advance by the Technical Director.

2. Due to the fragile makeup of the stage floor surface, all tape used on the stage surface must be of light adhesive and approved for use by the Technical Director.

3. The user shall not allow nails, tacks, stage screws or similar articles to be driven or placed in any part of the premises.

4. The operation of the flying system can only be done under the control of trained University staff members.

5. Spike marks must be Farthing approved and house standard.

6. All tools and/or loose objects must be secured when going to the loading rail, grid, lighting positions or up any ladder.

7. The Technical Director must approve the lighting control board and follow spot operators and may require that trained auditorium staff be assigned to those positions.

Sound

1. The Technical Director must approve the sound control board operator(s) and may require that trained auditorium staff be assigned to those positions.

2. The management reserves the right to control the final equalization and volume of sound for any show in Farthing Auditorium.  House standard is 95db with no more than 110 peaks. 

Video and Audio Recording

1. There will be no video or audio taping of any show without a signed release by the artist(s) for copyrighted performances. All audio and video taping must be approved prior to the event by the Technical Director of Farthing Auditorium.

Strike Policy

1. All equipment, materials, tools and props brought into Farthing Auditorium must be removed immediately following the final performance. Farthing Auditorium cannot accept any responsibility for items left after strike.

2. All soft goods, equipment, and tools must be returned to their proper location and be in good working order.

3. The stage floor must be cleared of tape and swept clean.

4. The control booth must be restored to pre-show condition.

5. The stage manager or user's representative must check out with the staff member on duty.

6. Approval of the completed strike is the decision of the Farthing Auditorium staff member on duty.
